EZ Plumbing & Heating Rebrand
A biker badge turned a clean negative-space logo
Challenge
The client came to us in need of a rebrand. He took the company over from his uncle who loved all things Harley. There's nothing wrong with that, but the logo looked like it could have been a Harley Plumbing Company, if such a thing existed...we've checked, it does not. The brand needed to feel classic, clean and simple. Nothing complicated or overly flashy. Just the kind of brand that fits an uncomplicated, down to earth, trustworthy plumbing company. As for colours, they didn't want a focus on them either. Black, grey, white. The brand needed to have integrity without loud colors to pull you in.
Goal
Changing the game in the Plumbing Industry. Professionals looking professional and working professionally. After digging into the competition and the industry norms, we saw numerous logos with pipes, fire, water droplets, and wrenches and while we knew that we couldn't fit all of this into a single logo, we landed on the wrench. The name was a no brainer as EZ is just, well, easy to brand.
Solution
The client likes simple, but not on the nose, so after some sketches, we worked a minimal wrench into EZ. From there we took the brand further and incorporated some of the well known symbols into the brand for easier recognition, as a form of wayfinding. We designed the logo, icons, a pattern, brand guidelines, vehicles decals, business cards, stickers, and a website (which we have since redesigned).
